Pastoral Care at Faith: A Tradition of Support and Connection
Faith Lutheran College’s Pastoral Care system, introduced in 1990, has long provided students with a sense of belonging through Village Care Groups, small, multi-age communities where older students mentor and support younger peers. This structure helps create a school family that grows together throughout each student’s journey.
In 2022, Villages were grouped into four Districts to strengthen the Pastoral Care system and offer additional leadership opportunities for students. Coinciding with this year’s anniversary, the Districts were named Moculta, Altona, Kalimna, and Moppa as a tribute to the region’s rich history and a step toward shaping Faith’s future.
As part of their District Leadership roles, students serve their peers and also lead a District Awareness Week. Earlier this year, Moculta District focused on mental health, hosting guest speaker Jan Hoffman from Seeds of Hope. Through Chapel and activities, students explored practical ways to care for themselves and support their peers, living out the College’s values of compassion, hope, and community.
