Community Launch Celebrates the 31st Mengler View Wine Vintage
The Mengler View wine community came together recently to celebrate the launch of the 31st vintage of Mengler View Wines at Faith Lutheran College, a tradition that continues to showcase collaboration, learning, and the region’s rich winemaking heritage.
Each year, the College’s Agriculture team partners with Year 10 students to deliver a hands-on “vine to bottle” experience. Students immerse themselves in every stage of the process, from handpicking grapes in the vineyard to bottling and labelling the finished product. This year’s harvest included Riesling from the Liersch block, Grenache from the Centenera block, and Mataro from the Judd block, giving students a true taste of Barossa viticulture.
Across the vintage, approximately 10 tonnes of grapes were processed, thanks to generous donations from local supporters including Kalleske, Scholz and Westlake. These contributions ensure students experience authentic winemaking while strengthening ties between the College and the broader wine community.
The 2025 releases include a crisp, dry Riesling crafted from vines on the Barossa foothills. Opening with delicate aromas of citrus and white florals, its palate layers lime, green apple, and subtle minerality, balanced by precise acidity for a refreshing finish—perfect for summer enjoyment. Also featured is the 2024 Shiraz from the historic Doecke block, marking its 30th vintage. Aged in American oak, this wine delivers power and earthiness, with black cherry, blackberry, and black pepper harmoniously balanced on the mid-palate. Silky tannins provide structure, while its lingering finish leaves a lasting impression.
Valued sponsors and supporters including CCL Labels, AP John Coopers, Treasury Wine Estate, and the Marananga Wine show were recognised at the launch event, celebrating not only the wines but also the dedication of students and the invaluable guidance from industry professionals. The evening reflected the essence of the program: community, learning, and collaboration in a bottle.
Mengler View Wines can be purchased through the College reception, with proceeds supporting ongoing educational opportunities for students.
