Music, Drama, and Dance performance at Faith continues to grow and flourish each year. Right from our opening service in February to our Valedictory Service in December, the performing arts play an integral part in the life of our school.
There are many highlights each year, from the large scale to the more intimate.
Our bi-annual Musical Production has become a high profile fixture on the Barossa artistic landscape and is much anticipated every second year. In 2006 the production of ‘Oliver’ presented our largest ever ensemble of student performers for a Faith show. This production featured a 73 on-stage cast, a 50 piece orchestra in the pit, and a large number of technicians, scenic artists, and various other production personnel of students and staff. A special feature of this show was a dynamic revolving set that was con-figured in a variety of ways to represent anything from an orphanage through to London Bridge. A complete double cast of leads gave 44 students the chance of playing either a major or minor lead, and the various chorus numbers provided lots of dancing, acting and singing opportunities for a large chorus of Londoners, Orphans, and Fagin’s gang.
On the alternate year to the Musical, a Performing Arts Showcase is presented.
Annual events also play an important role. Events such as the Grandparents Day concert feature our Year 8’s in items of music, dance and drama. Student bands entertain each year at the annual Magnolia Fare, and dance is always a highlight of our end of year services. The Year 12 Drama production is an important part of calendar and features our upcoming actors, along with the annual Year 12 Music Recital which presents the senior music students. The annual Twilight Concert continues to play an important role in displaying the development of our Year 8 and 9 musicians, along with the numerous drama evenings that present group production work from our Year 10 and 11 drama students.
Along with performances generated on campus, we often play host to visiting schools from around Australia and overseas, and provide performance for community groups such as bible societies, service groups such as Rotary and Probis, for events such as the NSW Variety Bash, and Bay to Birdwood, and supporting congregations.
The integration of performance in worship continues to be an important component of our school. Students share their God given talents in a number of special worship services both on and off campus, and perform regularly as part of our weekly chapel program.
