Faith Lutheran School offers a broad range of educational programmes within a Christian environment. At Faith, students are actively encouraged to recognise and develop their God-given talents within a safe and supportive community.
A wide-range of courses are offered. Skilled and experienced staff have a long tradition of excellent public examination results and the focus upon providing appropriate and fulfilling pathways for students is reflected in the student retention rates at Year 12 (97% in 2006).
A major focus at Faith is to challenge each student to achieve to their full potential and both our formal curriculum and extra-curricular activities provide opportunities for this to happen. Our Music co-curricular performance ensembles perform at school and community events throughout the year with great success. These ensembles include the Faith Concert Band, Faith Swing Band, Faith String Quartet, Faith String Orchestra, and Choirs (Concert Choir, Female Chorus and Male Choir.
In addition, the Gifted and Talented Extension Program is popular whilst the programme for Vocational Education received the ‘VET School of the Year’ in 2004. Other students have individual learning needs where Learning Support is able to offer assistance. The School also offers many sporting opportunities in its comprehensive Physical Education Programme. Students are also encouraged to be involved in their local town teams.
Excellent state of the art facilities are provided for students and staff to develop their skills in Information & Communication Technology. Over 150 networked PCs are available for student use with a wide variety of applications available to enhance their learning experiences both at school and home.
Christian Living is a scheduled subject at every year level and incorporates personal and social development. Students are given the opportunity to give service to both the local community as well as to the school community itself. This sense of community is highly valued at the school.
In aiming to respond to the needs and interests of the local community, the school has developed particular strengths in the Performing Arts and Agriculture. A full scale musical production is undertaken every two years for example, and students produce the school wine 'Mengler View' in the new Wine Education Centre. Hospitality is a growing curriculum area with a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen completed mid-2007 while involvement in local History has always been a priority. The School also values its close links with the global community and has a flourishing Exchange Program with sister schools in Japan, Germany and the USA.
